Knit our Sundress to fit a baby/child from 6-24 months old.
Design:
The dress has a bobble flower pattern and moss stitch edgings. The front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and the sides sewn together. Buttons are added to the front to fasten the dress to the straps.
Sizes:
The pattern gives instructions for 4 different sizes: 6m, 12m, 18m and 24 months old.
To fit chest: 41, 51, 54 and 56 or 18, 20, 21 and 22 inches.
Yarn:
The pattern uses cotton double knitting wool (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply), but you can substitute for any DK wool.
The picture shows the 6-month-old size knitted using Rico Baby Cotton Soft DK in shade 047 (Smokey Rose). You will need 3 (4, 4, 5) 50g balls.
Skill:
Intermediate. Written instructions. A chart is also provided for the flower which is repeated over 11 stitches.
Tension:
22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles:
Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
4 buttons
