Knitted using double knitting wool

Design

For the Dress, the skirt has a star stitch pattern and garter stitch edgings.  The front, back and sleeves are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together.  Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and for the opening at the back with buttons added.

The matching Bonnet is fastened with satin ribbon.  Also included are Bootees plus a Blanket with the same star stitch pattern.

Sizes

The pattern includes 3 sizes to fit a doll: 41 cms/16 inches (46 cms/18 inches, 51 cms/20 inches).  The Blanket is 46 x 36 cms/18 x 14 inches.

Yarn

Double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The picture shows the outfit knitted using Stylecraft Special DK in shades Blue (Empire 1829), White (1001) and Yellow (Mustard 1823).

Skill

Intermediate.  Written instructions in English provided.

Tension

22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

Needles

Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

2 (3, 3) buttons for Dress

Satin ribbon for Bonnet

Stitch holders

Stitch markers
