The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up.  Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and one shoulder has a 3-button fastening to make it easier to lift the jumper over the child’s head.  A chart is provided to complete the motifs.

Yarn:

The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply)

The picture shows the jumper knitted for size 12-24m and knitted using:

Rico Baby Classic DK shades: Ice Blue (023), Red (009), White (001), Light Pink (Powder 038) and Black (099)

Skill:

Intermediate.  Written instructions provided, but you will need experience of working from a chart for the motif.

Tension:

22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

Needles:

Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Other requirements:

Small crochet hook (optional) to help pull yarn through for pompoms
